A message from St George parish church
From Fr Jeremy….Plans for Holy Week and Easter
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ
Greetings and may God’s peace be upon you and your household! Please be assured of my love and prayers for you all in these days.
I wanted to update you with regard to plans for worship during the Triduum (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Eve) and Easter Day. The following will, I hope, enable us to worship together, albeit as a dispersed community.
Daily Prayer
We will be saying Morning Prayer (8.00am), Evening Prayer (5.30pm) and Night Prayer or Compline (8.00pm) each day, using the resources from the Church of England website.

(A Daily Prayer App is also available from the Church of England)
The Stations of the Cross document (using photos of St George’s Stations) may be also used during this time for private prayer and reflection.
Maundy Thursday
On Maundy Thursday each year and in every Diocese, the clergy, ministers and lay people worship with the Bishop at the Cathedral. We are invited to join together for this Service of Renewal of Baptismal and Ministerial Commitment at 10.30am on Thursday 9 April. The service will be broadcast ‘as live’ from Rochester Cathedral and shown on the Diocesan Facebook page, YouTube and Vimeo channels.

The service will be led by Bishop James with contributions from across the Diocese and is an opportunity for everyone to reconfirm their commitment to God and their ministry, be it lay or ordained. Service sheets are available on the Diocesan Holy Week and Easter resources page.

Please Note: On the evening of Maundy Thursday, we would usually hold a service at St George’s that includes the reception of the holy oils (received from the Bishop at the Cathedral service), foot-washing, stripping of the sanctuary, followed by the ‘Watch until Midnight’. Under current regulations we are unable to hold any services in church, or film or record in the church and it is not practical to hold this service ‘at home’.
Good Friday
Please join us virtually, for the service of The Liturgy of Good Friday, at 2.00pm on Friday 10 April. This solemn service is led by Fr Jeremy from the Rectory. The service includes the Passion Gospel and the Proclamation of the Cross.

Easter Eve
There will be no service on Saturday 11 April, for reasons outlined above. However, arrangements will be made once we are able to reopen the church to bless the Easter Fire and bless, mark and light the new Easter Candle.
EASTER DAY
Rejoice! Christ has risen.
Please join with us for our Eucharist of Easter Day, which will be broadcast ‘as live’ on the St George’s Vimeo channel, from the Rectory, at 9.30am today Sunday 12 April.
