Donations
Every donation makes a big difference
St George’s Parish Church, Beckenham depends entirely on the time, talents and financial generosity of its members and friends to support our worship and mission.
The continuing increase in all our expenses, including the cost of many essential items such as gas and electricity (which have often risen way above the levels of inflation), and the cost of, and demands on, human resource stemming from legislation and regulation governing both our ministry and our buildings continue to mount whilst income streams have begun to decline. In order to sustain and develop our worship and mission and maintain our buildings in the manner that we have been accustomed for the benefit of the congregation and wider community of Beckenham, we need to reverse that decline in income. We are mounting a campaign to increase income over the medium to long term. To that end we ask you to review your giving and increase it if you are able to do so.
If you do not belong to the Planned Giving Scheme please seriously consider joining and committing to regular giving which will enable the parish to better budget for and Fund the Future with confidence.
Planned Giving enables us to recover very significant sums of tax from the Government under Gift Aid which are essential to our financial wellbeing. We now need to maximise the amount we recover.
Regular giving by Banker’s Standing Order or through the envelope scheme gives us a steady and more predictable income stream. If you are a taxpayer and you Gift Aid your commitment the parish is able to claim from the Government a further 25p for every £1 you give.
GUIDELINES ON GIVING
There are no rules about giving. All must follow their own conscience,
but the scriptures give us guidance:-
- It should be PLANNED
On the first day of the week each should set aside a sum of money according to their means (1 Cor 16:2)
- It should be a PRIORITY
Honour the Lord with your wealth as the first charge on all your earnings (Proverbs 3:9)
- It should be PROPORTIONATE
Give in proportion to your income (1 Cor 16:2)
There are a number of ways to give to St. George’s.
