Saint Simon and Saint Jude – 28 October

Not a great deal is known about either of these apostles.
Simon, called the Zealot, is thought to have travelled to Egypt to preach
and then to Persia where he joined Jude.
The letter of Jude comes just before the last book of the Bible, Revelation.
Jude is also called Thaddeus and is best known as
the patron saint of hopeless causes.
They were both thought to have been martyred in Persia.

Almighty God,
who built your Church upon the foundation
of the apostles and prophets,
with Jesus Christ himself as the chief cornerstone:
so join us together in unity of spirit by their doctrine,
that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
