A message from St George parish church

Maundy Thursday 17 April 2025

Maundy Thursday

Mark 14. 12 – 17, 22 – 26
John 13. 1 – 17; John 18. 1 – 27

The Passover supper is prepared.
Jesus washes his disciples’ feet and gives them the mandate or command:
‘I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you’. (John 13. 15)
‘I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.

Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another’. (John 13. 34)

They eat and drink together and then leave for the Garden of Gethsemane.
Judas directs the crowd to Jesus: ‘he went up to him at once and said, “Rabbi!” and kissed him’ (Mark 14. 45). Jesus is arrested.
