A message from St George parish church
Safeguarding 2025 – ‘Action Speaks Louder’
Safeguarding at St George’s
Safeguarding Sunday this year is 16 November 2025
This year’s theme is
‘Action Speaks Louder’
The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church.
Everyone who participates in the life of the Church has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all.

From Together – Diocese of Rochester, Issue 26, August – October 2025
‘The day-today, diligent work of parishes, parish safeguarding officers, and the Diocesan Safeguarding Team has continued over the year,
with 2260 people in various roles trained in basic and foundation safeguarding, and 179 out of 231 parishes using the Parish Dashboard
to help them keep up to date with their safeguarding requirements.’
1 John 3. 16 – 18 (NRSV)
We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters.
How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?
Little children, let us love not in word or speech but in truth and action.
We are commanded to love, whatever the cost, and to act on this love.
Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
We confess to you, and to each other,
that we have sometimes failed to be aware
of our responsibility to safeguard those in our care.
Give us, we pray, a new awareness of situations
which put people at risk.
Forgive our lack of attentiveness towards the vulnerable
and instil in us all a sense of community and caring
so that the love of God is shared more fully.
