A message from St George parish church
O Rex Gentium – 22 December
These very ancient verses, probably dating from at least the sixth century,
are used in daily prayer in the last days of Advent.
The hymn O come, O come Emmanuel is a paraphrase of them.
The titles given to the Messiah are all to be found in prophecy.
O Rex Gentium 22 December
O King of the nations, and their desire,
the cornerstone making both one:
Come and save the human race,
which you fashioned from clay.
Rex King Isaiah 9:6 Isaiah 2:4
As we await the coming of our Lord, we pray “Even so come, Lord Jesus”
