A CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE

Over the centuries many brides and grooms have set forth on married life from the historic, awe-inspiring, church of St George’s Church, Beckenham.  As the bells ring out, couples leave this majestic and awe – inspiring church through one of the oldest Lych Gates in the country.

The exhibition showcases the weddings of those who have lived in the parish and beyond, from one which took place back in 1940 right up  to August 2022!

Precious dresses and wedding attire have been loaned for display, and the exhibition will highlight changing styles in shape, fabrics, headdresses and accessories.  Photographs will reflect fashion in floral bouquets and guest clothing.

This unique exhibition will be of great interest to local historians, collectors, students/designers/teachers of art, fashion and textiles and, of course, anyone who just loves a wedding!
