Coronation Reflection – Thursday 4 May 2023

What are mortals that you should be mindful of them;
Mere human beings, that you should seek them out?
You have made them little lower than the angels
and crown them with glory and honour. Psalm 8. 5, 6

Sacred objects are used
during the coronation ceremony.
These symbols of power and majesty,
the crowns, sceptre and orb,
are each surmounted with a cross reminding the monarch
that any power he has is derived from God.

God, our Father,
help us to hear the call of Christ the King and to follow in his service,
whose kingdom has no end;
for he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, one glory. Amen.
