Go Green(er) for Lent – conclusion and reflection
Go Green(er) for Lent
Introduction
As members of Eco Church St George’s has made a commitment to long term action on the environment. How can we become better at caring for creation and improving our lives and the lives of others through healthy, eco-friendly and sustainable living?
At present St George’s has a Gold status for Worship and Teaching; Bronze for Buildings; Silver for Land; Silver for Community and Global Engagement; Bronze for Lifestyle.
The Lenten 40-day period before Easter gives us the opportunity to reflect on the practice of fasting and commit to giving up something that brings a real benefit to nature and helps address climate change. Each week in Lent some suggestions will be offered: you could help the environment. Take time to pray, reflect and consider these options. Perhaps you could choose just one or two to start with and add something new each week.
Lord God, give us the wisdom to care for our planet and for each other.
Help us to think, pray and act now for the good of future generations and all creation.
Week 6: 10 April
Take stock of the changes you have been able to make.
Decide if you will be able to continue through the year.
Let us know what you have achieved.
Lord God, when thou givest to thy servants to endeavour any great matter,
grant us also to know that it is not the beginning, but the continuing of the same,
until it be thoroughly finished, that yieldeth the true glory;
through him who, for the finishing of thy work, laid down his life for us,
our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
