The Accession of Queen Elizabeth ll

On this day 70 years ago in 1952, King George VI died following a prolonged illness. Princess Elizabeth immediately acceded to the throne, becoming Queen Elizabeth II and taking on all of the responsibilities which came with her new title.

On Sunday 6 February  2022 we celebrate the Accession of Queen Elizabeth ll in our prayers and music.  Included below is a prayer we may all share

Let us pray for Her Majesty the Queen,
giving thanks for her life of witness and service.
Sovereign God on this day you set ELIZABETH, upon the Throne of this Realm.
We give thanks for her life of witness and service.
We ask you to bless her.
Let your wisdom be her guide, and let your arm strengthen her;
direct all her counsels and endeavours to your glory, and the welfare of her subjects.
May truth and justice, holiness and righteousness, peace and charity, abound in her days.
Grant that she, being devoted to you with her whole heart, and persevering in good works,
may, by your guidance, come to your everlasting kingdom.
Lord, hear us.
